La Cena....

Food is possibly one of the best things in Spain…my host mom is a fantastic cook (but fails horribly in comparison to my real mama’s cooking!) and always leaves my stomach a happy camper…and the food that I wish to share with y’all now is paella! This is a classic Spanish dish that is eaten all over the place in many different ways…according to what one of my professors said today, Spaniards even make paella when they go camping! Certainly not your typical hot dogs and s’mores, huh?

So this is what my plate looked like at first:

And several bites later, it looked like this:

Yeah, I ate it all and boy was it tasty like whoa!! Now paella can be made tons of different ways but most always with some kind of seafood…now im NO seafood fan but this stuff is incredible…I’m sure you caught a glimpse of what this paella contained but now here are some close ups…

Mollusks of some kind:

And a new favorite, kalimari (its that stringy stuff):

Now having given this food approval, who knows what I’ll be eating more of in the next weeks until December! I do gotta say, some of this stuff is in desperate need of some kind of salsa!! A little bit of spice would make it wonderful…however, Spaniards seems as scared by spicy stuff as some of you Ohio folk out there…lol

Its been abnormally hot here the past couple of days…like south texas valley kind of hot, well without the humidity…its supposed to be going away in a few days but who knows if I’ll be able to sleep through too many more sweaty, gross nights! Hopefully the trip to Madrid wont be too hot.

oh yeah, and it didnt take my spanish family long...they are already calling me Julito...lol

Hasta luego!!

well julio. im trying to be optimistic. but that food looks like someone karate kicked me into a cactus and picked up the ramainder of my organs and put them in a blender and then you ate it. but i mean you'll need to get the recipe and make it for me and then i can truly judge its grossness.
